News & Announcements
Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule
The Library will close at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 22, and will remain closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24. We will re-open on Saturday, November 25, at 10 am. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Reserve Ahead: Polar Express Night
Polar Express Event sponsored by the Friends of the Roseland Free Public Library - Friday, December 15: Movie at 7 pm, Annual Holiday Train Exhibit sneak peek at 6:30 pm. Hot chocolate, cookies, and a visit from Santa too! PLEASE NOTE: Limited to 30 children - RSVP required. Tickets are $5 and will be available on a first come, first served basis at the circ desk. Proceeds will benefit the Friends.
Mobile Hotspots Available
Mobile Hotspots are now available for our patrons to borrow! Available to patrons 18 or older with a valid driver's license and Roseland Free Public Library card in good standing. Each hotspot provides internet access for up to 10 devices. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis, and the loan period is 14 days. There will be a $5 per day late fee.
Matinee Mondays
Monday Matinee on November 27, at 1 pm, will feature the thriller/drama Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer, starring Richard Gere. Rated R, runs 1 hour and 58 minutes. Popcorn will be served and no RSVP is needed.
YA Video Game Tournament
Middle and high school students, join us for a fun and friendly Super Smash Bros Tournament on Monday, November 20, from 4 to 5 pm. Call for more information or to sign up!.
Knitting & Crochet Club
Enjoy an evening of knitting and crocheting at the library on Monday, November 20, starting at 7 pm. New members welcome.
Adult Yoga Every Wednesday
We offer weekly Adult Yoga classes at 10:30 am every Wednesday in our Community Room. RSVP is appreciated, but not required. NOTE: Last yoga session before the Holiday Train Exhibit will be December 6. Wednesday yoga resumes on January 10 at 11:30 am.
Scott's Solutions: Now on Fridays!
Library assistant Scott Bergenfeld can show you the basics of Microsoft Word, Excel, and other tech resources FRIDAYS 9 am-noon. Safely navigate social media; create resume templates, letters, and spreadsheets; utilize cell phone, iPad, and Kindle features, such as calendars and more. No RSVP needed for this drop-in instruction.
Jedi Training
Prepare for our Star Wars Day on Dec. 2 by working on your Jedi skills on the following Thursdays in November at 4 pm: Nov. 16 - Make glow-in-the-dark Jaba the Hutt slime; Nov. 30 - DIY light sabers. Call to RSVP.
Library Book Club
The Roseland Free Public Library Book Club's next meeting will be on Wednesday, December 13, at 7:15 pm. The group will discuss the romantic comedy novel Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine. New members welcome.
Escape the Room Here at the Library!
Bring your friends and work together to solve clues and break out of a room with a Batman vs Riddler theme! Sign up for any of the following sessions on Wednesday, November 29: 5-6 pm, 6-7 pm, or 7-8 pm. Recommended minimum per session is 2 participants, and a maximum of 6. Call to RSVP.
Young Scientist
Who says science can't be tasty! Kids ages 2-5 can learn how to make "ice cream in a bag" on Monday, November 27, at 2 pm. Call to RSVP.
Adult Meditation Classes
Join us for a full Thursday of Mindfulness! There will be Guided Meditation classes at 10 am AND 7 pm on December 7 - pick whichever time works for you! Call to RSVP. NOTE: Meditation Thursdays will resume on January 11 at 10 am and January 25 at 7 pm.
A Christmas Carol
Three costumed actors from The Traveling Literary Theater will perform selected readings of A Christmas Carol, the timeless holiday tale by Charles Dickens, on Saturday, December 9, at 2 pm. Call to RSVP.
Museum Passes Available
Patrons can borrow passes for themselves and/or their families for The Newark Museum, Montclair Museum, Morris Museum, The NY Transit Museum, and (coming soon) Imagine That!
